JI Arts’ 6th Annual Silent Art Auction

Thank you, James Island!

JI Arts’ 6th Annual Silent Art Auction on Saturday was a big success, with our gallery visitors, men, women and children of all ages, finding the exact pieces of local and “friends of” art that spoke directly to them starting from just $5 up, all while supporting our 13 local art classrooms (K-12).

Our engaging emcee led us through the evening’s festivities, from raffle win to raffle win. JI Outreach greatly appreciated your donations of food for our Island food pantry. Your food gift made a difference for a family in need. It was an evening of fun AND giving and it really felt good. With heartfelt thanks and deep gratitude, we applaud our volunteers and the helpers they brought with them. You baked gourmet cupcakes, hung and staged art in two buildings, made sure everyone was well taken care of, and filled in anywhere you were needed. We have a wonderful team who worked tirelessly to pop up two art galleries and patio bistro in our gorgeous(!) new Town Hall. Our gracious hosts lent us both venue and human resources and we discovered “their” artistic sides, as well!

A very special thanks to our local artisans, who generously donated their work so that our future artists have the supplies they need all school year. You are an inspiration for our fledgling artists in the making and your art (2D, 3D, literary, performing, culinary) is the lifeblood of our Auction. And did you see what talented youth we have on this Island? They are being taught to refine their talent by some very hardworking teachers. Parents(!), thank you for coming out and bringing along our future artists to explore the exhibits. “Art has the role in education of helping children become like themselves instead of more like everyone else” [as] “Art does not produce what we see. It makes us see.”

And for those of you who were not there, check out the great pics from Foxworthy Studios and take note of our next big art event: We look forward to seeing ALL of you at our Sea Island Arts Fest, Sunday, September 29th, 1-6pm. Artisans, start gathering your art now! We will be bringing the best music and art around for everyone to enjoy and take something special home. There truly is something for everyone…
